Words-Full of Life and Death

The Words of the Lord bring forth life. The wrong words can bring forth death. How do I know? The first way is that God's word says so in Proverbs 18:21.

The second way I know is twenty-four years ago, I was visiting a family member of my husbands. We were there to attend the funeral of her thirty-nine year old son. I will never forget standing in her kitchen and the words she spoke. She said, "He's told me for years, he would never live to see forty. I used to ask him why?"

He said, "I just know I won't, that's all."

"I finally just quit asking him. However, I did of course ask him if he had seen a doctor, and he hadn't."

Here was a vibrant young man, who enjoyed life, yet pronounced many times out of his mouth he would not live to see forty. And he didn't.

Our words are so important. You know the Lord said our tongue is a double-edged sword. "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12.

Since there is life and death in the tongue, I am trying to train myself, to speak words that are life giving.  And when I pray, I have begun using the Lord's scriptures that pertain to the situation I am praying about. That means I am praying in His will. Those are His words.

We can sew strife or peace with our words. We are told idle hands can get us in trouble, but we aren't normally told idle words can be death.

I have tried to make every effort to watch my words and to explain to my daughters how important their words are. To think before speaking, making sure they speak the right words. A lesson I myself am practicing every day.

God's blessings for His grace.

Interested In Beauty?

“Fix your eyes on Jesus and the plans he has for your life. Look ahead, and run after him with all your heart. Then look around. Whoever has kept up with you, marry that person.” Debra Fileta ( Debra Fileta is a licensed professional counselor, national speaker, relationship expert, and author of Choosing Marriage, True Love Dates, Love in Every Season, and Are You Really OK? )

So many women have the wrong thinking on what beauty represents. They are looking at the outside. That kind of beauty comes from products from a store. Many people consider these products are masks.

But, in truth, beauty comes from the inside and shines outward.  You see it all has to do with where you are in your relationship to the Lord. Why? Because if you believe in Him, then you know, He believes in you. You also know who you are in Him. You can see yourself through His eyes. Beauty like love then overflows in your face.

Do You Deserve Favor?

What is grace? It is God's undeserved favor. John 1:17 says, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” You see we did not earn God's grace, it is a gift from God. Even though we did not deserve His favor, He loved us so much that He bestowed upon us His favor. Over and over we see this in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament.

Look at Abraham and Sarah. They had trouble being patient and trusting God to come through with His promise. Many years went by before a child was born through Sarah. She became impatient, as did Abraham, so she took things into her own hands. She gave her maid, Hagar, to Abraham to sleep with so the maid could conceive a child that would be Sarah's. After all the maid belonged to Sarah. That was not God's will, let alone His perfect plan. He told Abraham what His perfect plan was and that He would do it. But they became impatient and doubted. You know they did, they kept getting older and older. You can't fault Sarah for doubting she could conceive a child at her age.Yet, even though they decided to take things into their own hands, God was still faithful to them. He still gave them favor even though they didn't deserve it. He gave them grace even though they did not earn it. He caused Sarah to become pregnant with her own child, Isaac. Thus God fulfilled His promise.

We are not perfect people, but as a child of God, we are adopted into His family and He gives us every day His grace and favor even though we don't deserve it and we have not earned it.

God is a loving God to His children. Let us thank Him every day for His wonderful grace.

What Plan Should A Woman Follow?

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”Proverbs 16:3

Do you make plans for yourself? Set Goals? I think it wise for us to take a look at our lives and check to see where we are in life. Then we can set goals for ourselves and move forward to achieve them. However, before setting the goals, I think it is important to involve the Lord in choosing the right goals that are inline with His will.

You see He knows the path we should choose for goals, the best path to follow. And if they are inline with His will, we can procede with peace and confidence that the Lord will help us along this path to achieve the goals.

By trusting Him day by day to lead us we can be assured that we are following His plans for our lives. And he always gives us His best.

For Women Everywhere!

Proverbs 3:15 says, "Her value exceeds pearls; all you desire can't compare with her."

A woman who loves God is more valuable than the finest pearl on earth. If she is treated with love and respect she will return that love. She will be her husbands greatest asset and the nurturer of her children teaching them the way to walk with God.

Lord, help women be all you created them to be so they can be a blessing to others, including their husbands and children. Help their husbands love them fully and unconditionally throughout their days. Show her how to make a loving and peaceful home thereby glorifying you. Amen
