Looking For Solutions To Help Our Families and Communities

Smith Wigglesworth was a preacher and teacher. I read an interesting fact on him. He did not learn to read until after he married his wife Polly. She taught him to read the Bible. He often stated, “It was the only book he ever read”. He did not permit newspapers in his home, preferring the Bible to be their only reading material.

I dare say that is a rarity today. When I read this, I wondered how many homes today have Bibles. If they have one, how many families read the book collectively as a family and as an individual? Obviously, I don’t have the statistics on that.
However, that got me to thinking, what if! What if families began reading the bible together? What changes would come about in their homes, their lives, and their work? Of course, the changes would spill over in how we see and interact with our neighbors and treat people in our communities.
Looking around at the things happening in all our communities such as ––the violence, hatred, rage, anger––all of which are affecting our children, grandchildren, families and communities around the country, I couldn’t help but think maybe everyone should try this, reading the Bible. After all, what could it hurt? If this doesn’t help us, our children, our families and our communities well then we’ve lost nothing.  A little bit of time, that’s all. However, what if, it did make a difference! What would it be like? For our children? For our families? For our communities?

Don’t get upset, no one is infringing on your freedom of rights, no one says you have to do this. But as intelligent people, we are all looking for ways to combat these things going on in our communities. We’ve tried passing laws, curfews, and a myriad of other things that just haven’t worked. We have placed blame and hurled accusations. So far, nothing has worked. Even our leaders in government and communities are at a loss of what to do to change these things. It’s still going on and seems to be getting worse. So why not try this. What changes can take place if all of us do this?

    1. Love this post. Stranded on an island, there's only one "must have" book. The Bible.
It's why we must help get Bibles into the hands of all humanity captured by the evils of communism.

Dream of Tomorrow!

Audrey Hepburn once said, “To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow.” As I mulled this over, I was taken aback as I contemplated the truth of this. I can understand how you would be looking at the seeds you plant thinking of what they would look like as they grow. Nurturing them each day and seeing each one break through the ground and their faces showing. Their growth continuing until they fully matured. So yes, planting a garden is like dreaming of tomorrow. Mary Cantwell said, “Gardeners, I think, dream bigger dreams than emperors.” In truth, I believe they do. The Lord also causes us to grow. Our food and water comes from His word. The more we read God's words in scripture, the more we grow in Christ and the stronger we become in our faith. Blessings!

Were You In The Locked Room?

Jesus said, "Peace be unto you." Imagine you were with the disciples in the Upper Room; the doors are locked. Everyone is afraid of the Jewish leaders coming after them. Not only were they fearful, for their lives, but they lost their rock, Jesus. The man they leaned on, and depended on. He was with them for over 3 years, teaching them. Their friend. They could always count on Him. They ate with Him, played, slept, and prayed with Him. Now He was gone. Their whole world had been turned upside down. They didn't know what to do. They were in the upper room, the last place they had been with Jesus. What is it like for you sitting there with the disciples? Then suddenly, a man appeared in the room. They aren't sure who He is and they are wondering how he got in the locked room. The man says, "Peace be unto you." When he said this, he held out His hands and shewed them His side. It was Jesus. Can you imagine how thrilled the disciples were to see Him. Their jo
