SARA TELLS US ABOUT PROPOSALS AND POETRY

There is a widely popular rock song in which the singer says to someone else, “Put a ring on it.” Now how does this relate to us and poetry? Well, both suggest a proposal and a follow-up commitment. But how do we get friends and acquaintances to commit? To poetry?

Let’s look at some of the ways our poetry can present the “ring.”. . .

Looking For Solutions To Help Our Families and Communities

Smith Wigglesworth was a preacher and teacher. I read an interesting fact on him. He did not learn to read until after he married his wife Polly. She taught him to read the Bible. He often stated, “It was the only book he ever read”. He did not permit newspapers in his home, preferring the Bible to be their only reading material.      I dare say that is a rarity today. When I read this, I wondered how many homes today have Bibles. If they have one, how many families read the book collectively as a family and as an individual? Obviously, I don’t have the statistics on that.      However, that got me to thinking, what if! What if families began reading the bible together? What changes would come about in their homes, their lives, and their work? Of course, the changes would spill over in how we see and interact with our neighbors and treat people in our communities. Looking around at the things happening in all our communities such as ––the violence, hatred, rage, anger––

Whatever Storm May Come

Deuteronomy 33:12  The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long.   H. F. Lyte wrote: " Whate'er events betide, Thy will they all perform, Safe in thy breast my head I hide, nor fear the coming storm." There are many storms in life and one of the lessons I think God would like for me to learn is to cast my cares upon Him. To remember that He is in ultimate control and because of that I am not to fear the storms that come my way. Prayer:  Lord God, I know not what storms will come today, but I do know you care for me. Help me to remember that you are in control and you will work things out for your glory and for my good. Amen.
