A'apocalyptic' Scenes in Mariupol. Under Siege

Mariupol, a Ukrainian port city that was home to more than 400,000 people just two weeks ago, has been almost completely shut off from the outside world by advancing Russian forces.

How can a grown man be fearful of a baby? Putin has ordered the slaughter of babies, old people, and civilians. Is this because of his greed, and thirst for power. Is he trying to put back together the USSR?

We saw it in King Herod. He ruled Judea from 37 BC. The Bible says he initiated a murder of all the infants in Bethlehem in an attempt to get rid of the baby Jesus.

Then there was Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, who was scared that one day there would be too many Israelites and that they would take over Egypt, so he made the Israelites his slaves. Pharaoh then commanded that all the newborn Israelite baby boys should be killed.

The Sadness and Hurt Caused By Others

Attacks hit Ukraine children's hospital. We wonder how people could want to hurt children. It makes us angry. But we forget that the great adversary of humanity, is the devil, and when people do not have Christ in their hearts, then the devil enters in. All we have to do is look to see what is going on in the Ukraine. A man who has succumbed to the enemy and wants to pump himself up and take what it not his. This happened before, and was done by a man called Adolf Hitler. He was power hungry and caused devastation all over Europe.

Let's face it, there is evil in the world. We must pray asking God to save the Ukrainian people
from this agressive enemy and cause him to be pushed out of the Ukraine.

Franklin Graham said, "“Our prayers not only are needed, but the greatest hope we have is that God has not forgotten the Ukraine. I want people to know that God has not forgotten them. God hasn’t turned His back on them,” he continued." to read more of Franklin Graham's word click

Romans 8:35, 37-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:35, 37-39

Please join me and others lifting up the people of the Ukraine to God.

Amen

A Gift That Keeps On Giving

I always loved writing as a child and young adult, but never dreamed I could ever be a published author. Wasn’t that for someone more qualified, dignified . . . someone in a tweedy jacket with leather elbow patches and a sweet-smelling pipe? Despite encouragement from teachers who even called me a ‘gifted writer,’ and some early ‘successes’ in writing, I never considered myself a real writer. And yet I continued to write. A love of words and storytelling seemed to drive me. Whether it was journaling, corresponding, creating a PTA newsletter, or sending an opinion piece to the newspaper, I was always writing. Was it a gift?

Merry Christmas

I am so excited about December. All our family will be gathering this Christmas, unlike last Christmas.

I know everyone will be looking forward to spending time with their families and friends as the days go by in the month.

In the hustle and bustle, and the gift buying, I hope we can all focus on the one true gift of Christmas. The baby boy born to a virgin who came into the world to save the world. . .

SARA TELLS US ABOUT PROPOSALS AND POETRY

There is a widely popular rock song in which the singer says to someone else, “Put a ring on it.” Now how does this relate to us and poetry? Well, both suggest a proposal and a follow-up commitment. But how do we get friends and acquaintances to commit? To poetry?

Let’s look at some of the ways our poetry can present the “ring.”. . .

Happy June

Happy June to All!

What a fantastic month.  I love this month for so many reasons. The flowers are out in radiant colors. Just hard to pin-point which is the prettiest.

It is also a month where seniors will be graduating from high school. They are all so excited to be finished with these chapters of their lives and anticipating wondrous chapters of new as they leave the halls of their school. . .

Helping Others Please God

Did Jesus give us advice on helping others? I believe He did.

William James said, "Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude."

Hebrews 13:16 "But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." (KJV) In other words, do good to others, and don't forget to share with others in need. This pleases God.

With the cornona virus prevalent around the world, now would be a great time to help others in need. The one thing I have learned is I can't outgive God. He always blesses me when I am helping others. One of the greatest blessings is the feeling you get when you have done something for someone else.

Susan Reichert was the co-publisher and the Editor-in-Chief of Southern Writers Magazine, a national magazine for authors and readers and is now retired. The magazine is also retired. But she continues promoting authors and their books on Suite T, and The Gallery of Stars.

Reichert discovered one of her life's purposes when she began to write. "First, it was short stories as a child." Some Saturday afternoons you could find Susan, her sister and friends acting out the stories. Her writing took a back seat until she was in her twenties where she began writing a novel, set in Jamaica. "Unfortunately, over the years, it became lost."

She is a big proponent of writing your feelings, life thoughts, prayers, and ideas in journals. Something she has done for forty years.

Besides facilitating a writing group since 2010 she writes every day. In April 2015, her book, Storms in Life, released.  Her second book will be released this summer, God’s Prayer Power.
She lives in Tennessee with her husband. They have four grown daughters who have families of their own.
